How to dress in the coming winter

September 24, 2009 By: admin Category: dress fashion

Winter is a season that is often dreaded due to the cold and dreary weather. Many people think that this season requires heavy and unflattering clothing; women who are overweight have an additional challenge in avoiding these styles, because much of the clothing in plus sizes is already bulky and unflattering. However, this style of clothing isn’t the only option; if you know what styles to look for when shopping for clothes, you can stay warm and comfortable in the cold weather while still looking trendy and hot.

If you are seeking to be a little more stylish when it comes to your clothes you might consider pairing a skirt with thick opaque tights. Although you might want to consider the weather first, a short skirt with thick tights is a great look which will highlight your legs and curves. With a pair of leather boots you will be ready for all kinds of weather including snow and rain. You can also wear tights under a favorite pair of jeans or pants that might otherwise be too thin to provide warmth during the winter months. Tights will extend your wardrobe beyond the end of autumn and into colder weather.

If you are a plus sized woman, think about avoiding waist-length coats. Thigh-length peacoats make a great alternative and are a fashionable choice. They are really stylish and will also keep you warm. A basic black coat is always a good option, or you could try something a bit more extravagant depending on your tastes. Remember, if you feel good when wearing something, you will probably look good in it too! Another style to try is a long, woolen, ankle-length coat. Check the cut of the coat to see if it has a slight flare at the bottom and to see if it fits you well, with few wrinkles. It can be easy to find a coat that is a bit boxy, but just look for one that hangs well on you and that doesn’t look like a tube!

Image matters

How we look is not “supposed” to count. But it does - a lot. We can glean so much about each other by how we dress — from age and probable income to education and social standing - that it’s shocking how many people choose to be oblivious to the message their appearance is sending.

When you’re shopping for fruit, which are you more likely to choose: the unblemished shiny apple or the bruised dull apple? Chances are, you’ll grab the shiny one. Same thing with a dented can or box. All things being equal, we choose the flawless item time and again.

Guess what? So do employers, clients, and potential mates. An unkempt appearance is one of the reasons most often cited by employers for not hiring or promoting job candidates, and “looking hot” is one of the easiest ways to attract (and keep!) a mate. So ignore your appearance at your own peril.

August 07, 2009 By: admin Category: Personal diary

People who know how to dress and look fabulous any time, any occasion know their own style. I think that Perhaps the true difference between style and fashion is maturity and self knowledge. A genuinely stylish person knows how to dress not only because they understand what suits them but also because they like themselves. They are clear in their own mind who they are and what they represent. This self knowledge and self confidence gives them the courage to be noticed and to be different.”How to dress?”One hundred people have one hundred different answers. But it’s really important.

My opinion about dress to wear at a wedding reception

July 17, 2009 By: admin Category: dress fashion

As it is a formal wedding, summer and at night, I would wear something in chiffon with straps, slightly above the knees if you are a small person, or longer if you are voluptuous. If it is outdoors, wear flats so your feet aren’t sinking into the ground. If indoors, heels - a height comfortable for you. Also, have a wrap to take with you, perhaps a matching one in chiffon which is lined for a little more warmth. Satin could be used.

I sell jewelry, so as the bride will probably be wearing diamonds or pearls, I’d stay away from them. Depending on the color of your dress, I’d wear gems in a matching color - demure but gorgeous. Afterall, you don’t want to outshine the bride! If you wear a gorgeous pin on your dress, you could use it later to pin your wrap to keep it on. It will have a twofold purpose then. And definitely an evening purse - small. All you need is a little money, driver’s licence, one credit card, lipstick and a comb.

As it will be in the summer - you might think of wearing your hair up if it’s long enough. Otherwise you might melt later.

How do you dress your child for school when the weather is in the twenties or thirties fahrenheit?

July 07, 2009 By: admin Category: Personal diary

As a parent, the following is my opinion.

An undershirt with a sweater or a sweatshirt or a hoody is good if the school isn’t too warm. A nice thick coat with hat, mittens or gloves and a scarf on really cold days…(buy those now they will be sold out soon!) Jeans or sweat pants. Have at least one set of LongJohns and one pair of snowpants for playing outside in the snow. You’ll need extra gloves or mittens for playing…they get wet fast! A good pair of waterproof lined boots are a must as well. Its great for the kids to get out and play in the snow…just watch the time and their fingers/toes/nose…they get too cold just bring them in…I usually don’t let mine play outside if it gets below 15 degrees or so. Have fun…hope you get a white Christmas..there’s nothing prettier!!

How to Dress to Look Slender

June 03, 2009 By: admin Category: dress fashion

This article,I think women will be interested.
Adding a few staple clothing pieces to the wardrobe can instantly take 10 pounds off your frame without even going to the gym. Changing the way you dress can make it look like you have spent hours at the gym without even breaking a sweat.
Gone are the days of dressing all in black and baggy clothes to hide figure flaws. Contrary to what was thought in the past, dressing in loose fitting clothes can actually create the illusion of looking bigger than one actually is. Follow the next tips to look ten pounds lighter instantly.
1. Find the right cut of clothing. Finding clothes with a flattering cut and form to them will actually flatter your frame. The right cut of clothes can actually slenderize certain problem parts of the body such as the butt, hips and thighs.
2. Tailor clothes. Investing in having clothes made to fit your frame can help you look thinner. Hemming pants and shirts to the proper length as well as taking in the sides can help you look slim and trim.
3. Watch patterns. Picking the right pattern that is flattering can be tricky but it makes all the difference. Big and loud patterns can present the illusion of being bigger than one actually is. Putting on a shirt with an unflattering pattern may leave one to reach for the fat pills, when all that is needed is a different shirt.
4. Get enough rest. Nothing can age us more than missing a good night’s rest. It is important to get 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night to look as youthful and fit as possible. If you have trouble falling asleep on your own, the use of natural sleep aids can ensure a good night’s rest.
Finally, when you feel and look good, it shows. Ever notice how certain clothes make you feel more confident and assured? This also has an additional subliminal positive effect on the mind in that that confidence leads to walking and standing taller which will also make you look thinner.

How to Dress For Interview,It’s So Helpful To Our Graduates!

June 01, 2009 By: admin Category: dress fashion

Once you have landed an interview, the next step is to prepare for it. Make sure you leave yourself enough time to rehearse your answers to possible questions the interviewer may ask, and also give yourself enough time to get your wardrobe in order for the big day. It may seem trivial, but many interviewers give a lot of weight to your personal appearance, dress and grooming for the interview.

If you dress in a manner that commands respect, you will tend to get more respect from a job interviewer. Indeed, being well dressed is a good idea for pretty much any environment you find yourself in. It may be true that what is inside that counts, but most people you will encounter in your life will not have the time to get to know what is inside you.

All people however will have an opportunity to see how you present yourself in your dress, grooming and manner. First impressions count for a lot with most people, and the first impression you make on someone is almost always largely determined by your personal appearance.

There are some regional and other differences when determining the appropriate dress. In a large, cosmopolitan city, where trendy and fashionable clothes are the norm, you might be able to carry off an outfit that in the Midwest or rural areas would make you look gaudy and tacky. And a suit or dress that is perfectly appropriate for a small-town setting might make you look like a hick if your interview is in the big city.

Still, there are lots of do’s and don’ts that apply to pretty much any interview. Here are 12 of them:

1. Women, avoid extra-long nails and gaudy nail polish. A basic red is acceptable in most circumstances, as is clear. Regardless of color, make sure your nails are trimmed and neat.

2. Go easy on jewelry, especially anything that jingles or rattles when you move. You want the interviewer to be listening to you, not to be distracted by extraneous sounds. Do not wear more than one ring, or pair of earrings (and the interview is not the time to be showing off any piercings other than your ears).

3. Hair is important. It is worth the money to pay for a professional haircut or styling shortly before the interview.

4. Women should wear closed shoes, no matter how attractive your toes may be. Heels are OK, and probably desirable for looking dressed up.

5. Women should wear stockings, regardless of the temperature, but use neutral colors (flesh tones, not white, red, purple, etc.) and make sure that they do not clash with your shoes.

6. A dress or skirt is appropriate for women (pants probably not), but make sure it is not too short.

7. A blazer is acceptable, as long as it is a classic color and cut that does not appear dated. Leather is a no-no.

8. Men should wear a suit and tie. Never mind that you had college professors who wore turtlenecks with sport coats. If you are not wearing a tie, it creates the impression that you are trying to avoid wearing one, and your prospective employer does not want to think of you as someone who avoids things he does not like.

9. You want the interviewer to see and hear you, not smell you. Be fresh and clean, but stay away from aftershave, perfume or other scents that can be distracting.

10. Women’s handbags should be conservative in style and color, and should match (or at least not clash with) your dress.

11. If you bring a briefcase, make sure it is like new. You might think a brand-new briefcase makes you look inexperienced, but the reality is that an obviously worn one looks sloppy.

12. Keep in mind the geographical area that you are applying in (rural, urban, suburban, climate conditions, and what part of the country it is in), and try to fit in with the surroundings. A heavy wool suit that knocks them out in Boston might get you some weird looks in Los Angeles or Miami, and a skirt that is right at home in Cleveland might appear a bit drab in San Francisco or New York City.

You may have the best education, experience and other qualifications for the job, but if you do not make a first impression that strikes the interviewer as favorable upon meeting you, and memorable after the fact, you still might lose the job to someone who does a better job presenting him-/herself. That may not seem fair, but it is a fact of life.

How to Dress to be looked Taller?

May 19, 2009 By: admin Category: Personal diary

Height is a big factor in the workplace.  Studies have shown that taller men are more likely to be promoted than shorter men.  The difference is less for women.  Knowing this, if there was anything you could do to increase your height, wouldn’t you?

With the right clothes, you can appear inches taller.  However, your body type and coloring will have an effect on how well these five tips work for you.  Take an honest friend along while shopping to get some truthful feedback.

  1. Pinstripes, or thin vertical stripes, create an illusion of height, as well as making you look thinner.  However, wider stripes may have the opposite effect.  Stay away from horizontal stripes, as those will make you look shorter and chunkier.
  2. Try dressing in all one color. When you have a dark color on the bottom and a light color on the top, the focal point is your waist. This cuts you in two and makes you look shorter.  With all one color, the eye is drawn up your body, which gives the illusion of height.  Choose a color you like and that looks good on you.
  3. The right pants can elongate your legs.  The type of pant that works best will vary based on your body types.  Avoid those with flared bottoms and excessive decoration.
  4. Use a lift in your shoes, or high heels.  This may seem obvious, but it does work!
  5. Wear wider shoes.  Chunky sneakers or sandals make your feet look bigger.  Tall people have proportionately bigger feet, so if you increase your foot size slightly, it will make you look a little bit taller.

Using these clothing tips, you’ll appear taller.  In today’s tough job market, you need every advantage you can get!
