Evening dress

July 22, 2009 By: admin Category: Evening Dress

Have you found fewer and fewer people wearing Evening Dress to the Opera? Why did this happen?Do you know?
Because we have not only dumbed down, but we have dressed down. Nobody dresses up for anything anymore, unless we are forced to. Years ago, a gentleman would not have attended the opera unless he had a tux on, and if he had box seats, or orchestra circle, definetly he would have had a tux. And the ladies would have had floor lenghth gowns, and a fortune in furs and jewelry on.

It is a sad change  in society that people do not wish to show respect any more by dressing up.

Evening dresses, as you know, are also worn by guests in a wedding ceremony. Today, weddings, though considered as a formal event, have already provided guests with some leeway in terms of their choices of designs. Therefore, your guests could get as creative as they can on their evening dresses. Provided that they do not look ludicrous, lewd or malicious, then they can choose a gown that would make them look fabulous!

But what is expected of you on black tie events? Are there some do’s and don’ts related to your wearing of evening dresses? Here are a few of them.

If men were to be in a formal wear, so should the ladies. Therefore, it is but proper for you to “dress accordingly” when you are in your evening gown. Dressing here does not only refer to evening dresses but to other elements of your overall ensemble as well. Evening dresses in black tie events could be full-length or tea-length (mid-calf to ankle). Cocktail gowns are also acceptable in weddings.

Shoes need not be expensive so they would look fabulous on your already stunning evening dresses. You can go with pumps, evening sandals, or even ballet slippers. If they go with or complement the color of your evening gown, the better!

Surely, being in that stunning evening dress is not enough. You must be able to “carry it;” and the best way to do this is to use some accessories. While it is optional to wear those glittering pair of earrings, necklace, bracelet or ring, it would not do any harm if you do.

Fashion gurus also believe that a watch is not appropriate for evening dresses. If you really want to wear one though, make sure that it’s a jewelled version and that its “face” is not that obvious so it will resemble a bracelet.

If you do as the above-mentioned,You may be more fashionable.

Evening Dresses are meant to be worn strictly for special occasions held only in the evening. Evening parties are always special no matter for what occasion and so it definitely demands a special eye-catching dress. Dressing up very well for an evening party is the most important thing for women as it adds a special feeling of elation for every woman.

Looking for that perfect evening dress can be very time consuming, because you want the exact dress to look your best and have heads turning when you enter the room. With the many various styles out there including designer dresses which can be very costly, it can be a difficult decision, because you might like a certain style but you notice another one with a little something extra that you would like to have in your dress, and this is when choosing the perfect evening dress can become confusing.

Style and colour is the most important feature of an evening dress. Not every dress works for all body types. So the right colour, style and the size is very important. Evening dresses can be of various types depending on the kind of party that needs to be attended. For occasions like a birthday party, wedding or a New Years party the dress can be either classic or sophisticated, while for a discothèque the dress will be more glamorous.

Evening dresses are usually bright in colour, but black has always been the most commonly worn colour in the evening. These black dresses can also be accessorized with shimmer, embroidery, very simple jewellery to give a more gorgeous look. However, depending on the season, the type of dress can also vary. In the winter season people usually pay more attention on the colour and style of overcoats or shawls that they would wear for their evening party, while in summers people usually dress-up in bright and light clothes.

Another import aspect for evening dresses are how comfortable they are, since parties in the evening are usually light events meant for having a leisure time. Also, the difference between morning and evening dress should be distinctly marked. The perfect evening attire helps in elating a woman’s confidence and has a way of making her feel special. There are many different kinds of evening dresses that can be worn for different occasions. Some of them include Evening Gowns, Ball gowns, Prom Dress, Wedding dress, Cocktail party dresses and many more. Cocktail party dresses are short, while long dresses are reserved for the other evening dresses. The little black dress is the most common look for cocktail parties.

What Evening Dress is Suitable For a Summer Work Party?

The primary consideration, when choosing a dress for a spring/summer work event, must be that it is appropriate for the occasion. You may well be representing your firm at the event, and projecting the correct image is vital; a very short skirt would not be suitable if you work in a legal firm, for example. An event requiring evening wear is likely to be very formal, and women need to appear well-groomed. When shopping for a dress, don’t forget to take the shoes that you intend to wear with the dress, so that you can see how the two look together. At a work event, it would be wise to avoid wearing a dress that displays too much cleavage or legs.

This is also important if you wish to progress further within your company, as an inappropriately revealing dress will detract from your intellectual capabilities and experience. However, it is equally important not to overdo things by wearing a grand ball-gown. The ideal dress would be relatively simple, fitted and without excessive embellishments. Avoid wearing too many accessories, instead opting for one interesting piece such as a chunky bangle or striking necklace; if the dress is plain, this will add detail without being too dominant. The other point to consider is the weather, as we can never be sure how warm a spring evening will be.

Equally, a room may become very hot if there are a lot of people present, so heavy evening dresses with long sleeves may become too warm. The answer could be to wear a relatively light dress, but carry a wrap or pretty scarf. Thus you can cover up if it gets chilly, or slip the wrap off if the room is too warm. A bolero jacket is another possibility, especially if your dress is sleeveless.
